Developing technology of creating wear-resistant ceramic coating for internal combustion engine cylinder sleeve

This paper presents the results of testing a wear-resistant ceramic coating on work surface an internal combustion engine (ICE) cylinder’s sleeve. A combined formation technology is described that consists in applying aluminum layer to sleeve’s face by gas dynamic spraying and then covering this with microarc oxidation (MAO). tenfold reduction reinforced sleeve has been determined accelerated comparative wear rig tests reference (new) sleeve-piston ring coupling specimens coating. The supplementation nanoparticle admixture MAO reduces friction factor between cylinder piston 25-30%. proposed can be used reinforce surfaces new sleeves recover worn out ones.
